Stix & Brix in Colorado
Temps: 64F (18C) / 39F (4C)
A colorful morning dawns at our stix & brix on our first truly Phaeton-less day since we purchased it in 2010.
I wasn’t anticipating writing this post this early in our now semi-nomadic lifestyle. But it serves to put a full stop to our Phaeton Journeys, so here I am.
Mui’s “let’s test the waters” ad on the RV Trader website bore fruit the day after it was published a week or so ago. We had multiple serious interests … emails and phone calls led to appointments for in-person visits over the following days.
After a rigorous PDI yesterday, the title to the coach was signed over to the new owners — Jared & Rebekah. We enjoyed many happy days in the Phaeton over the past nine years… made wonderful memories. We are sure that Jared and Rebekah will similarly love and enjoy our former home on wheels. Happy trails to them.
Wishing Jared and Rebekah happy trails.
Here’s to making wonderful memories in the Phaeton.
The moment when Mui called to say that the ‘deed was done” was bittersweet. But as with so many other phases in our lives — and our travel adventures as well — when the end comes, it’s time to move on. Without regrets … though a bit of sadness is OK.
Our Phaeton’s plate … just before Mui packages it for shipment back to Florida.
We eventually plan to buy a smaller motorhome for future North American travels, but we’re not thinking about a purchase anytime soon. Of course, that could change if the right rig were to come along at the right time and at the right price. That’s what happened back in 2010 when we were in the market for a full-timing home on wheels. Kısmet!

As you said, bittersweet, but oh so nice that it happened quickly when you were ready. No waiting around, and a great deal for those new buyers who are lucky enough to find a lovely motorhome in such beautiful condition. Every time I saw your Phae, she looked brand new. Anyone who reads your blog knows about Mui's care of simply everything. And he is a good cook, too! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOur experience exactly! Funny. We are still without an RV after 2+ years. We will get something someday...
ReplyDeleteI remember reading that on your blog. If I recall correctly, you paid for a year's worth of advertising. We did eight weeks only since that's about how long we'll be in the country before heading overseas. Glad it worked out for both of us.
DeleteCongratulations on a speedy sale of your rig. Wishing you two wonderful thoughts for your adventures ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can imagine that it was a bittersweet moment for you. And yet, how wonderful that everything worked out so well and that your beautiful home-on-wheels has new owners who are clearly delighted with their new home. This just frees you up for what comes next. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen something happens like your Phaeton sale, we always say it was meant to be. Serendipity, and all that, and we believe it. Congrats on entering a new chapter ....
ReplyDeleteA happy and sad day all at the same time. Looking forward to your new life's adventures! :c)
ReplyDeleteBittersweet for certain. The new owners will surely benefit from the loving care that you and Mui have given the Phaeton. It's probably better than new in a lot of ways, and it's been proven over time to be a great coach!
ReplyDeleteDuring our boating years, we always said the happiest days were the day we bought a boat and the day we sold it. Congrats on this happy day and enjoy the new journey.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! bittersweet indeed, its like a door closes and another one opens for more travel adventures. I know that buying a baby rig is not in the cards right now, but another RV friends of ours are moving to Mexico on a stix and brix house and selling their "Island time" baby rig. Hector and Brenda's blog is "http://www.islandgirlwalkabout.com." Initially they had a bigger rig called Island Girl, but when they bought a house they sold it for a smaller one which they named Island Time. Now they are moving again, this time to Mexico and is selling their Winnebago View. Just thought I'd let you know :) - This is MonaLiza just in case I can't post as Lowestravels. Im having issues with commenting on blogger sites.
ReplyDeleteI can’t publish on your blog (or anyother Wordpress blogs) using my regular email because I set up a Wordpress blog once using that email address. I’ve since deleted the blog and requested the administrators permanently remove it ... to no avail.
DeleteThanks for the tip about Hector and Brenda’s baby rig. It really is too early to buy another rig, but I appreciate you thinking of us.
They look like such a cute couple. Now on two the second chapter of you lives.
