I’d love to live where there are two seasons year round — spring and fall. These are my favorite seasons. I don’t much care for summer; I don’t handle heat well — especially if it is humid. I don’t like to be cold either, but if I had to pick between winter and summer, the cold season would win hands down.
With this cross-stitch project, I didn’t have to pick one season over another — the entire year was represented. What I really liked about it was that the scene in the foreground changed, while the background remained fairly static with some seasonal variety to show the passage of time.
Beautiful work. Now that we have a house and will be stationery for a few months, I think I will put the pine needle baskets away and get back to cross stitch. I love that hobby.
ReplyDeleteThat is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteFall is my hands-down favorite, but given the option of living with only 3 seasons? Winter is the big loser. Don't mind the cold at all, but with it's lack of light and being stuck inside? Winter is not for me.
I'd curl up and die without outdoor activities, verdant vistas, sunshine... exactly why we live where October is the very height of the gardening season :)
nice work as always, Erin..are any of these cross stitch pictures going to hit the road with you?
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid not ... our philosophy on the road will be "Keep it Simple." Very few knick-knacks or anything that will add to housekeeping chores will be going with us. And these framed embroideries are pretty heavy with the glass and whatnot ... too risky to to take them on bumpy roads. Besides, we really have just one wall where we could hang anything.
DeleteVery nice! I'm with you about the seasons but might have to just go with Fall. I suffer from the pollen in the Spring, much to my dismay.
ReplyDeleteLove them! I have a set of four cross-stitch pictures inherited from my talented mother which depict the four seasons. I have to remember to change the picture each season. I guess I should just hang up all four year round.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I thought I would get back to cross stitch with retirement but it hasn't happened...no time. And no where to hang.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the two seasons of fall and spring. Definitely, the west is a better place to summer with dry heat. Humidity is a killer! Of course, weeks near a hundred are getting old!!!
Absolutely beautiful work! But I am equally impressed with the photos!
